Secondary school outreach toolkit on biobanking and broad consent, from the HEAP project Education and Dissemination Work Package at IARC.
The tool consists of:
- Presentation introducing biobanking. Suitable for “Researchers in Schools” or STEM clubs
- A guided group activity on broad consent to participate in biomedical research, suitable for delivery alongside a school visit to a biobank. The activity is for secondary school age and above, and includes a slide deck to guide the activity, an introduction to broad consent, a biobank case study, a debating exercise, brainstorming on good governance of biobanks, and a vote on the pros and cons of broad consent.
